Cats McNugget Boon
SOLD!! Thank you everyone for your interest in Nugget, he found a great new home in Michigan!
This 2015 AQHA blue roan gelding is by far the nicest horse we have ever had to pleasure to breed, raise, train, & offer to the public. He is also the last of Cats Royal Boon’s 1st foal crop we will be selling.
A show home is all that will be considered for this fella and we will want to stay in regular contact with the buyers, he is special to us. Cats Mcnugget Boon has excellent bone and a thick solid build. Great feet and a tail that drags the ground. He will catch the eye of judges and fans alike. Stands 14h. Very talented, smooth gates, very smart, & has the desire to please.
Nugget is by Cats Royal Boon and could be his carbon copy. Sweet, honest, friendly, & mellow with good manners on the ground. Wicked on a cow and easy in the reining. He will be fancy in the ranch riding and trail classes too. There are not enough words in the English language to describe how truly nice this horse will be to own. He is solid on all reining maneuvers and can catch one down the fence. He will suit many many different riders and go far in cow horse &/or versatility. Not recommended at this time for a beginner, but could easily season out into one with time. Has had 12 months of training and ranch work.
Although show green (gone to 2, a stock horse show and a practice show), he has been used extensively on the ranch and all that entails, including pairing out and roping/dragging calves. He great in the arena or out riding. He has been hauled plenty (our farrier is 4 hours away) and is easy to haul & tie to stand at the trailer.
Nugget is ready to start showing and will be hauled and shown until he is sold.
Fully paid up in the AQHA Ranching Heritage Program.
Always been on an 8 weeks shoeing schedule (done 3/1), UTD on teeth, vaccinations, worming. He has had the absolute best of care and treatment since the day he was born. Easy to haul, shoe, saddle, catch, & bathe. No vices, no bad habits, no issues, just a solid citizen.
Disclaimer: Most sellers would not even mention this to a buyer, but we aren’t most sellers. Nugget was diagnosed with minor bilateral OCD in his hocks in April 2018. Instead of waiting to see if it would cause issues, we elected to have them removed surgically as recommended by our vet. The surgery could not have gone better & both hocks have been IRAPed 3 times each as per post-op protocol. We rehabbed him nice and easy and brought him back into training slowly. If you are unfamiliar with OCD it is a relatively common developmental disease. Click Here for more info on OCD. Click Here for more info on IRAP.
Surgical outcomes for cases like his rarely have any career limitation. Nugget will stay just as sound if not more sound than a horse without it. I have hock radiographs from 1/2019 that I am happy to send to anyone. Our vet is top notch and very very well known nation wide. He has an aggressive protocol that we followed to the letter. All in all, it cost over $5000, money most wouldn’t spend, but we wanted to ensure Nugget had a bright future and a long sound life. As with all our horses, a PPE is welcome at the buyer’s expense. This is already reflected in his price. He needs no special care and does not currently require any maintenance. There are a few IRAP shots left if the buyer would like those for future use, we can put you in contact with our vet. Also, if any serious buyers would like to talk to him about Nugget, he is willing to set up a time.
This is why he has not shown much, but even with 5 months off, he didn’t miss a beat coming back to training.
Pictures and Video were taken 3/2/2019 in -1 degree, storm coming in, terrible weather. There was a snow drift in front of the photo backdrop, please excuse Nugget’s winter hair and lack of bath!! Due to the weather, we did not want to work him to hard nor get the buffalo running around in the cold. This is what he looks like with 3 rides in about 3 weeks. We did what we could today and if he doesn’t sell, I will update video with more info as soon as I can. Thanks for understanding.
Please do not hesitate to call or email with questions. We have loved this horse since the day he was born and are more than happy to answer any questions you have.
